When Everything Changes…

changes My goodness, what a year it has been so far. So many changes. In my last blog I wrote about being out in the country unknowing if this was where my youngest daughter and I were meant to be!

We were starting to settle in, accept that our time in the country is an experience we should enjoy… take the time to just be. Appreciate the fresh air, the uncomplicated lifestyle. Well God certainly likes to keep us on our toes and we are now back living on the Sunshine Coast. How did all this happen so quickly I hear you ask? But didn’t you just move…

Yes, three months is how long we were living on the 20,000 acre cattle property, and now we are as my daughter stated ‘Back to Civilisation’

It sees just when we think we have life all sorted out, when we think we are going in one direction… BAM… we are now lead down a different path.

It happened just a few short weeks ago. My daughter Yolanda rang me with some news that would have changes happening in our lives very quickly… The news was that she was pregnant, and not just pregnant, but 22.3 weeks pregnant. I cried, she cried. This was my daughter the one that had said she didn’t want children for at least ten more years… my mind spun for a while, almost as if I was on a wild ride at the show. I listened to her, holding my breath… as she tells me how she had not even had any symptoms, how she had gone to the doctor thinking the lump in her belly might be a tumor or a hernia. But, as it turns out that little bump is my first little grandchild.

Me a grandmother… whoa… hang on… am I ready to be a grandmother yet?? I still have a 13yr old daughter… I’m still trying to be a mum… these thoughts run around in my mind, like sugar being made into fairyfloss.

So in 2 weeks my pregnant daughter will join us here at Coolum. We have been blessed with house sitting a gorgeous home right near the beach for friends of mine who are now off travelling around Australia for the next 6 months.

I sit and ponder what’s in store, but realise… I’ve learnt not to think too far ahead. Things can change so quickly… I’m going to just enjoy being here right now. Enjoy a walk along the beach, the company of my children and the anticipation of my first grand baby… ok…ok, so I’ve been doing a little shopping 🙂

I may even start my next book. Hmm…

Much love till next time,

Blessings,

Narelle x

  2. A big congratulations, Narelle. I am waiting in anticipation for the birth of my 1st grand-child also. The original due date was the 22nd, so it can be any day now. If it happens on the 24th, it will be amazing, as this date would coincide with the exact date 8 years ago, when my first-born son, who I gave up for adoption, and I, first met at Brisbane International Airport. Stephen was 34 years old then and both our lives and the lives of many others have been changed forever. I hope you had the chance to read’The Heartbreak Option’. This story spans several decades, and outlines the many adventures and experiences leading up to this mother/ son reunion.
I do believe that things are meant to happen for a reason and I’m sure these grandchildren will be a wonderful contribution to that next generation.
    Take care

  3. Wow Narelle, you have had a ride…and one to come…I look forward to hearing the next step.

I relate to your ‘Am I ready to be a Grandmother’ comment. When I married my husband had 4 children aged 10-16 and I was 24. Then a year later we had a son together. i did not have time to ask if I was ready for motherhood…it was right there…

I was 34 when the first of our grandchildren were born. I could not get my head around them calling me Grandma…I kept looking round for my mother…

Good news report I did grow into ti! Cheers Di

    • Hello Di, thank you so much for your comment 🙂 Wow you certainly had your hands full… I will be fine… I am actually looking forward to becoming a grandmother for the first time. only 8 weeks to go… woohoo.
I will keep you updated here and will post some photos also 🙂
