Today I Met… Liz
There are days when we head out simply to run a few errands.
That was today.
My son and I stopped at a little local shop, and while I was looking through the clothing section, I said hello to another lady who happened to be there. Her name was Liz.
What followed was one of those unexpected conversations that left me smiling.
We chatted about donating clothes, local community groups, and before long discovered we live in the same suburb. By the time we said goodbye, we'd even decided to catch up over a coffee one day.
As we talked, Liz shared that she is living with early-stage dementia. It reminded me that every person we meet is carrying a story we may know nothing about. A kind word, a listening ear, or simply taking the time to say hello can mean far more than we realise.
God has a beautiful way of placing people in our path when we least expect it. Today was one of those days for me.
It also reminded me that kindness doesn't always have to be something big. Sometimes it begins with a smile, a simple conversation, and two people willing to take a few moments out of their day for each other.
It really is true… strangers are simply friends we haven't met yet.
May we never underestimate the difference a simple hello can make.
