Every Good and Perfect Gift Is from Above

General

Life often brings us moments that feel too heavy to carry, and others so tender they take our breath away. Somewhere between those two places lies the truth of this verse:
“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”

Not every gift arrives wrapped in joy. Some are disguised as waiting seasons, hard lessons, or quiet mornings where nothing seems to move. But as time passes, we begin to see the thread, that divine thread of purpose, weaving its way through every chapter of our lives.

I’ve come to understand that God’s gifts don’t always come as answered prayers or visible blessings. Sometimes they come as strength we didn’t know we had, peace in the middle of pain, or people who show up at exactly the right moment. Every one of these, in its own way, is a gift from above.

How to Recognise God’s Gifts in Your Life

  1. Pause before you label.
Not every challenge is a curse, and not every delay is a denial. Sometimes the waiting is where the gift begins to take shape. When life feels uncertain, ask, “What might this be teaching me?”

  2. Practice gratitude for the small things.
The sunrise, the kind word, the quiet strength to get through the day, these are often overlooked blessings. When we start to notice them, we find that life feels fuller, softer, and more guided.

  3. Trust divine timing.
Our plans often rush ahead of God’s wisdom. When things don’t unfold the way we hoped, it’s not rejection, it’s redirection. Trust that the right gifts will arrive when you are ready to receive them.

A Personal Reflection

Looking back over my own path, the storms, the healing, the moments of stillness, I see now that each part carried something sacred. Even in pain, God was shaping something within me that I couldn’t yet see.
The gifts weren’t always visible at first glance, but they were always there: strength, courage, and the quiet assurance that I was never walking alone.
