The Sweetest Joy Is the Joy We Share

Joy likes company.

There is something beautiful about joy. It doesn't always arrive through the big moments in life. It can find us in a laugh shared with someone we love, a conversation with a friend, a piece of good news celebrated together, or even an unexpected encounter with someone we've only just met.

Sometimes another person's happiness makes us smile too. Their laughter catches us. Their excitement draws us in. And before we know it, we are sharing a moment that may not have belonged to us at all when it began.

Perhaps that's part of what makes joy so special. We don't have to know someone for years to share it with them.

A stranger can make us laugh. A brief conversation can brighten our day. Someone we have only just met can leave us feeling happier simply because, for a moment, two lives crossed and something good was shared between them.

And joy doesn't require a perfect day.

We can experience happiness on a day that also holds disappointment. We can laugh when there are still things weighing on our hearts. We can treasure something beautiful without pretending that everything else in life is beautiful too.

One doesn't have to erase the other.

Maybe that's why it's worth noticing joy when it comes. Not rushing past it. Not waiting until everything in life is exactly as we'd like it to be before allowing ourselves to enjoy it.

And when we have the opportunity, perhaps we can pass a little of that joy along.

A smile.
A laugh.
A kind word.
A moment shared.

Because joy likes company.

And perhaps, after all, the sweetest joy is the joy we share.
